we need some space
Hey boo, is it just us? Or does it seem like nowadays a lot of our time gets wrapped up in the web? We’re either scrolling, posting, or finally logging off from a series of meetings, and though we all deserve a chance to disconnect and reset, we don’t always have the luxury of stepping outside before hopping into our next presentation. So how can we make our space a bit more sacred and carve out a region designed to relax your mind?
Enter, your reading nook. A secret haven sequestered in a corner of your home, seemingly forgotten. Maybe it’s currently used for storage (and since we’re purging, gone head and see what you can get rid of), or maybe you’re just not sure how to transform the space to fit your needs. That’s where we come in :)
First, we need to visualize its potential. Clear the space so we can see what we’re working with, and then create a quick sketch of what you would like to see in it. All artistic levels are welcomed, so don’t be scary boo. Just ask yourself how you’d like the space to work for you. What additions would help you to forget about the countless e-mails that still need responding and allow you to simply revel in a moment’s silence? Is it some plants? Comfy chairs and ottomans you can kick your feet up on? A meditation pillow? Maybe even a rug to bring a splash of life or calm to your oasis?
Next, we create a mockup. If this is above your skill set, feel free to hit us up for some interior designing help. We do it all and we want to help you do it all as well! We can draw over the image you’ve created and place furniture and other elements in the space so you can get a feel for it. Then—our favorite part—is GET TO SHOPPING! We know you already got them pins saved, so fill your cart up and fill your home with pieces that will elevate your daily experience!
A few Additional Tips:
If you’re buying a rug, use tape to outline the size and shape to better ensure it will fit your needs
Add a mirror to make the space look bigger and reflect light throughout
Place décor elements such as plants, candles, and books in bunches of twos and threes (& don’t be afraid to play w/ scale! Mix up some small, medium, and large pieces to draw your eye and keep you engaged!)
Lastly, be okay with compromise. It may not look exactly as you envisioned, but we’re about Progress Over Perfection, okay?
You’ve got this boo! & we’ve got you!
